Happy 4th Anniversary Emily Reitman
Welcome to the Forum Solutions Associate Spotlight Series: where we celebrate the remarkable professional and personal accomplishments of our associates on their work anniversaries.
In this post, we are proud to celebrate Emily Reitman’s 4-year anniversary with Forum Solutions. Emily is a Senior Consultant who is passionate about leadership development, community impact, and even restoring her 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
What is a development goal you have for 2025?
I am completing the second half of the local learning cohort called Leadership Tomorrow. In that program I am continuing a journey to learn/re-learn about racism and practice anti-racism. As a cisgender, white woman, this work requires a continuous commitment. I am realizing that it requires more than what I have been giving lately. So, my goal is to figure out what recommitment means for me, and to take action. This work deepens my personal and professional leadership by allowing me to show up more fully for my clients, my colleagues, my community, and myself. Fortunately, I am doing this work alongside eighty other leaders (cross-sector) from around Western Washington.
What industry do you primarily work in?
I began my career in philanthropy and social impact, but since coming to Forum, I have worked with retail, healthcare, and transportation clients. In the last 2+ years, I have focused on global logistics. I have been doing more work recently as an Interim Chief of Staff for my clients. I get a lot of joy working to anticipate the needs of a team, helping them refine their strategy, shaping the story, and facilitating action. I am lucky we have such great clients I get to advise but also learn from.
What is a side project or personal passion that excites you?
I am restoring my first car, a 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I think about business puzzles all week, so it is a nice balance to do something more physical in my free time - and there are plenty of puzzles in fixing up an old jeep. The car is very sentimental to me (that is another story), so it is special to be working on it and driving it around again. Shout-out to my partner John, who is my mechanical wingman.
How do you give back to the greater Seattle community?
I am a board member at Bike Works – a Seattle based nonprofit that promotes justice through affordable transportation and youth leadership. I would not call it giving back, because I am getting so much from my involvement with the Bike Works community. I am proud of and inspired by the organization. It is a tough time for nonprofits right now, so it is important that we all stay close to the community organizations that are meeting community needs and working for a better future. Learn more about Bike Works in this recent press release from the talented staff team here. If you are interested in supporting this work, please join me at Bikecitement on April 27 to support and celebrate Bike Works.
