A Strategic Approach to Market Expansion & Prioritization

Each year, Forum Solutions donates pro bono hours to a local Seattle-based non-profit organization. We believe in developing and growing the communities that we live and work in by lending our expertise to support local organizations.

We recently partnered with Project Access Northwest to evaluate options for expanding their services through research and guidance for future growth.

Challenge:

Project Access Northwest is an accomplished non-profit organization based in Seattle that provides essential care coordination services to low-income and uninsured people in need. They work with their extensive network of providers, partners, and volunteers in the King, Snohomish, and Kitsap Counties to provide access to medical, dental, and behavioral health services.

Thanks to Forum’s expert guidance, we are now better equipped to extend critical health services to underserved populations, advancing our mission to ensure that everyone in the community has access to the healthcare they deserve.

Guided by the vision that “Everyone in our community will have access to appropriate health care services”, Project Access Northwest recognized they could expand their geographic footprint to serve a greater number of people in need. They sought guidance on where the biggest growth opportunities lay and how to prioritize and decide on next steps in the expansion.

Approach:

Forum applied a unique and customized approach to deeply understand Project Access Northwest’s strategic goals and community needs and aligned our research to meet those objectives.

  1. Stakeholder 1:1 Interviews: Spoke with key stakeholders to gather insights into future vision and to guide research efforts.

  2. Expansion Criteria: Based on these stakeholder conversations, we identified the most effective criteria for evaluating areas for expansion.

  3. Data Collection: We gathered and synthesized data from multiple sources for research purposes.

  4. Prioritization of Criteria: We applied a custom prioritization framework and scored expansion opportunities based on the community need and barriers of entry.

This approach enabled us to facilitate effective decision making for the organization to appropriately prioritize opportunities and maximize their impact on the community.

Results:

Forum equipped Project Access Northwest with a strategic research report, evaluation criteria, and decision-making guidance for continuing to grow and expand their service offerings. As a result, Project Access Northwest has recently announced their plans for expansion into Lewis, Mason and Thurston counties – highlighting the impact of our collaborative efforts and value of our insights shaping their future direction.

“Collaborating with Forum Solutions LLC has been a highly beneficial and informative experience for Project Access Northwest staff, volunteers and board members. Their tailored approach not only deepened an appreciation of our strategic plan and goals but also provided invaluable insights into community needs that drove our decision to expand into Lewis, Thurston, and Mason counties. Thanks to their expert guidance and unwavering support, we are now better equipped to extend critical health services to underserved populations, advancing our mission to ensure that everyone in our community has access to the healthcare they deserve."
