Electronic Medical Record Migration Business Intelligence Impact Analysis & Mitigation Plan

Business Problem

A local health system in the process of a system wide Electronic Medical Record (EMR) migration needed to better understand the migration’s impact to current reporting mechanisms. Forum was asked to help identify, understand, and respond to any potential disruption during the migration.

Approach

Forum worked with stakeholders across the enterprise to develop a gap analysis and plan forward to meet the necessary reporting needs of the organization. Considerations for the plan included purpose of the data/report, prioritization of need, access, security, training, long-term development requirements, and impact to the current and future operating model.

Results

Critical data needs were addressed during the IT planning phase and gaps were minimized to the extent possible.  Refinements and new requests were tracked via the new operating model.
