“When we work with our clients, we focus on key business objectives with them, but we also get to know our clients as people. ”
— Emily Reitman
What brought you to Forum?
About 10 years into my career, I had found my sweet spot launching innovative programs and shoring up business operations for strategic alignment. I was working with many different stakeholders on a lot of different initiatives, but I wanted even more variety and that is what drew me to consulting. I wanted to work on complicated puzzles with good people. When I began meeting the team at Forum, I was struck by the candor and warmth I experienced from my (then potential) colleagues, and that was the biggest factor that led me to make Forum my new work home.
What has been meaningful about your experience at Forum?
I love getting to build relationships with our clients and with my Forum colleagues.
When we work with our clients, we focus on key business objectives with them, but we also get to know our clients as people. In this world, we spend so much of our lives working and that means that the combined experiences of our workdays have a big impact on our overall wellbeing. I find a lot of meaning in getting to know the people I work with, so that I can really support them in the ways they need most, learn from them and hopefully laugh with them too. We work across so many clients, that we really get to share the love! I have also found a special camaraderie when I work with other Forum colleagues on a client engagement.
What do you like doing outside of work?
I like to spend time with friends and family (big surprise- I know) and love getting outside for any kind of hiking, biking, skiing/snowboarding, swimming, camping, or miscellaneous mountain adventure. I live on Vashon Island, where my partner, John and I are rebuilding an old home (slow and steady). I am also volunteering as a board member for Zero Waste Vashon, an island-based environmental nonprofit.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornish College of the Arts and an MBA in Sustainable Business from Bainbridge Graduate Institute.
