The most critical time for any new leader to make organizational changes and redirect the focus of a team is within the first 90 days. When this client started her new role as a Director of IT Business Operations at a retail organization, the CIO had relayed expectations to shift the focus of the team and elevate their services from tactical to strategic in support of the broader organization. Action/Solution
Forum interviewed key stakeholders to assess expectations for the IT Business Operations team including executive leadership both internal and external to IT. With this comprehensive assessment, Forum was able to derive what key functions the team must have and what skills they must own. This vision set the tone for the organizational structure of the team – including what verticals and roles were required. This guidepost informed the transition of existing roles that best reflected growth and strength in individual skill sets as well as the identification of needed new resources.
